President notes on positive results experienced after implementation of Family Law

President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has noted on the positive results experienced after the implementation of the Family Law.

The President made the statement in his message on the occasion of the International Day of the Family. The President further stated that work was being done on revising and strengthening the current family law.

The President highlighted the importance of future planning and preparation in starting a family. He said that the matrimonial relationship was a sacred bond formed with the objective of creating a family. In this regard, he stressed that mutual respect, fully performing parental duties and maintaining happiness in the family were important factors that should be considered by both husband and wife.

In his message, the President stated that families form the foundation of society and that family bonds played a vital role in strengthening and sustaining this foundation.

The President also extended his warm congratulations and sincere good wishes to all Maldivian families, on the occasion of the International Day of the Family and said that in this period of wide-ranging reforms in the country, the government also attached a great importance to family issues.
