The unexpected tidal wave that hit several islands across the Maldives severely damaged many islands, especially those that were small. The capital island of Addu Atoll, Hithadhoo was also flooded and cleaning operations are now underway. Hithadhoo is one of the largest inhabited islands in the country but was left in chaos after the tidal wave of Tuesday.
